The White House: Russia will buy more steps from Iran

October 2, 2025

Last year, US authorities released satellite imagery and intelligence findings that they said indicated Iran had sold hundreds of attack drones to Russia.

For months, US officials have said the United States believed Iran was considering selling hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia, but Washington had no evidence the deal had been struck.

Iran also continues to supply Russia with one-way attack drones (unmanned aerial vehicles).

“Since August, Iran has provided Russia with more than 400 Shahed drones,” said John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

Russia consumed most of these aircraft targeting vital Ukrainian infrastructure inside Ukraine during the war that began last year.

The latest disclosure is part of an ongoing leak of US administration intelligence findings detailing what officials say is a deep defense partnership between Russia and Iran.
