London: The architecture of the British Parliament is famous all over the world and it also has the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On an average one million people visit this grand building every year. However, British MPs warned on Wednesday that cracks in the walls of Parliament House were increasing and water was leaking from its roof. He expressed apprehension that the building could collapse any time in the event of a disaster.
The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Commons said in its report that water is dripping from the roof of the British Parliament, its walls are cracking and there is a constant danger of the building collapsing. The report said that the repair work has been pending for a long time and even before it can be started, ‘the risk of collapse of the building due to any disaster is real, which is increasing continuously’.
The committee said the renovation of the 19th-century building was progressing too slowly and was mostly repair work, costing around ÂŁ2 million a week.
