Ukraine’s ambassador to Paris asks for an apology for comparing Zelenskyy’s visit to the marquee

May 17, 2023

Ukrainian Ambassador to France Vadim Omelchenko demanded an apology from French TV channel RTL for the statement about Ukrainians and their President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is how he reacted on Twitter to a television program in which the presenter claimed that on May 15, the Ukrainian president had gone to the Elysée “with his marquee”.

What cynicism and lack of tact, not inherent in a sympathetic (French) people. No sympathy, no responsibility. I apologize to my president and my people

stressed the diplomat.

Omelchenko uploaded a fragment of the TV channel’s program, which he said also took the liberty of beating the announcement of the “Zelenskyy circus tour in Europe” and his meetings with European politicians, like an advertisement for a circus show. The ambassador added that the Ukrainian people are suffering and fighting for their freedom, but also for the freedom of the French and their possibility of “enjoying the ease of being”.

Earlier it was reported that Volodymyr Zelensyy, on a tour of Europe, was looking for additional weapons for the counteroffensive promised to the Western allies. During the talks in Paris, he managed to beg for equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces. French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed his intention to transfer several dozen AMX-10RC armored vehicles and wheeled tanks to Kyiv. In addition, the French party undertakes to train Ukrainian crews for these vehicles.
