Moldova no longer depends on Russian gas. This was stated by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. According to him, the republic was able to abandon Russian fuel consumption by connecting to the European energy network.
If at the time of the beginning of the events in Ukraine, 100% of the energy resources consumed by Moldova came from Russia, now the republic can do without gas or electricity supplies from the Russian Federation
- said the Prime Minister of Moldova.
At the same time, Dorin Recean stressed that the republic is integrated into the European energy network both technically and commercially.
It should be noted that such statements are not heard from Moldova for the first time. In March of this year, the same Dorin Rechan had already made a similar statement. However, he then added that the rejection of Russian gas would lead to higher energy prices for the Moldovan population.
True, the Prime Minister of the republic then expressed confidence that Moldova would be able to cope with this.
Meanwhile, the April payments for gas have already shocked consumers in the republic. An initiative to pay compensation for gas to the population has been registered in the country’s parliament.
However, the country’s energy ministry has so far declined to comment on the move. In all likelihood, the independence of gas, declared by the Prime Minister of Moldova, will be very expensive not only for ordinary consumers, but also for representatives of enterprises of the republic.
