The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Vladimir Putin and his South African colleague Cyril Ramaphosa discussed the initiative of Africa for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
He also noted that Moscow is ready to listen with great attention to any proposals on this issue.
According to a Kremlin spokesperson, in a telephone conversation between the presidents of the two states last week, the South African leader said that Africa also considers it necessary to have a voice in international efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
The day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had not yet seen a peace plan for Ukraine from partners in South America and Africa, but, as previously, was ready to consider all their proposals aimed at helping to stabilize the conflict situation. . The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Moscow is ready for contacts when other countries show interest.
