Crimean parliament leader Vladimir Konstantinov said the process of handing over the peninsula to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR), which took place in 1954, was a blatant disregard for political will local residents and was not legally formalized.
“We have formed our demands. Looking more closely at this issue, it becomes clear that we never left the composition of the Russian Federation, the borders of which did not change in 1954, and therefore in 2014,” RIA Novosti quote him as saying.
Preparing a proper justification for the abolition of the decision to transfer Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR will not take as long as it seems at first glance, Konstantinov is sure.
“The violations committed are so flagrant and flagrant that we still wonder how this could have happened. But it happened,” the politician said, noting that the bodies that made this decision had no such powers.
The head of the regional parliament also pointed out that the transfer of the peninsula to the Ukrainian SSR was not supported by any official document that would provide guarantees for the protection of cultural, linguistic and other traditions.
Earlier, Russian Head of State Vladimir Putin noted that security issues are a priority for Crimea and Sevastopol. According to the President, despite all the challenges and difficulties, the tasks of accelerated socio-economic development of these entities will be handled consistently and systematically.
