IED Blast: One person killed in IED blast in Jharkhand

Chaibasa (Jharkhand). A man was killed and his wife injured when an IED planted by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) exploded in a forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. A senior police officer gave this information on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said the victim, identified as 50-year-old Kande Laguri, a resident of Luiya village, had gone to the forest with his wife to collect kendu leaves on Wednesday when the IED exploded.

Laguri was killed and his wife injured in the blast, Shekhar said. The villagers came to know about the incident on Thursday morning, after which they informed the police. Police along with Central Reserve Police Force, Jharkhand Jaguar and Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot and recovered the body.

Shekhar said that the security forces recovered the body with the help of villagers and took it to the Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa for post-mortem. A 10-year-old boy was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded.
