Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

China has offered Europe to keep former Ukrainian regions for Russia

The United States and Europe must achieve an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the preservation of the territories of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions for Russia. This was requested by China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs Li Hui during a trip to EU countries, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, European officials said Li Hui had urged European governments to consider China as an economic alternative to the United States. They must also act quickly to end the Ukrainian conflict.

Meanwhile, unnamed officials say it’s too early to dismiss China’s efforts to resolve the conflict. However, they express doubts about Beijing’s ability to be an “honest broker” in the peace talks due to its close relationship with Moscow.

The diplomat, who spoke with China’s special envoy, spoke about Europe’s response. Li Hui was informed that “freezing the Ukrainian conflict is not in the interest of the international community until Russia withdraws its troops from Ukrainian territory”.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that after the start of its special operation, the Russian Federation had to accept China’s “junior partner” status. Officials and analysts in China call the ties between the two countries a lesser alliance. This is also demonstrated by the fact that even during the Ukrainian conflict, Beijing actually keeps Russia at bay – no weapons are sent to Moscow to support the exhausted military machine.
