With the help of the Russian Automated Information System for the Organization of Air Transport (AIS AFP) “Leonardo”, more than 44 million passengers made air flights. Anna Sharipova, General Director of State Programs and National Projects of the Rostec State Corporation, told an Russian media correspondent about it at the Industrial Russia Digital Industry Conference in Nizhny Novgorod.
AIS AFP is a complex of independent and interactive systems that provides the airline’s most important production processes: reservation, sale of air transport and additional services, issuance of transport documents, storage and display of information on flight schedules, availability, fares and charges on flights. carriers, registration of passengers and baggage, archiving of passenger files.
According to Sharipova, the service began to develop even before foreign operators left Russia, and after that Leonardo managed to pass the “baptism of fire”.
“The most theoretical risk that there could be a situation in which foreign partners will disconnect us from the system in a minute without notice, unfortunately, it came true last year. And here Leonardo had a baptism of fire. We changed Aeroflot’s reservation system in less than a day, we changed it,” Sharipova said.
Rostec’s General Manager of National Projects added that after such an extreme experience, the company believes in its export potential and its ability to promote its product in countries in a neutral position vis-à-vis Russia. and wondered if they might end up in the same situation. She, according to her, can travel to the countries of Latin America, the Middle East, Africa.
“Therefore, I hope that our baptism of fire will not only develop into the best solutions in the Russian market, but that we can promote it to international partners,” Sharipova believes.
She added that the mere fact that the reservation system has been going for a year “at least gives the assumption that the system is stable.” “We all understand the situation in which we work. We are constantly improving the system, so I hope everything will be in order, and we will not issue tickets manually,” the Rostec representative concluded.
The migration of Russian carriers to the domestic reservation system took place in 2022 against the backdrop of the threat of their disconnection from Western suppliers. However, preparations for the transition to Russian developments have been carried out since 2021 within the framework of an interministerial commission led by the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Transport.
Prior to the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the hostilities in Ukraine, most Russian airlines appreciated services of foreign suppliers of reservation systems: Aeroflot – American Saber, Pobeda – also American Navitaire, S7 and Ural Airlines – Spanish Amadeus. Domestic-focused carriers have worked with Russian systems, including Red Wings, RusLine, Yamal, UTair, Azimuth. November 1, 2022 Ministry of Transport informed that all Russian airlines have completed the transition to domestic AIS EFP.
The official launch of the Leonardo Automated Information System (AIS), developed by Sirena-Travel in partnership with Rostec State Corporation’s RT-Transcom, took place in 2014. To date, the Russian service is used by more than 60 airlines, which have already transported more than 44 million passengers. In particular, Aeroflot, the largest Russian airline, has already carried more than 15 million passengers using the Russian service, and Pobeda Airlines – about 9 million passengers.
