The governor of Rostov announced the cancellation of mass events and urged not to leave the house

Governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev on the morning of June 24 reported that the authorities have decided to cancel all public events planned for the weekend in Rostov-on-Don. He also urged people to refrain from traveling to the city center.

“In connection with the current situation, I ask you to refrain from moving around the city center and, if possible, not to leave your home,” the region’s chief said in his telegram channel.

Golubev said that the administration of Rostov and the city’s survival services have received the necessary instructions to maintain the normal functioning of all city systems.

He noted that municipal transport operates in Rostov-on-Don, but there are route changes in the city center.

“Commuter transport from Azov, Bataysk and Aksai is operating normally. There are temporary restrictions on the Taganrog, as well as on the northern direction from Rostov,” writes Golubev.

According to him, commuter rail transport is operating normally.

The head of administration of Rostov-on-Don Alexei Logvinenko also informed that the authorities take “the necessary measures to ensure the life of the city”, information on the change of transport routes will be published on the administration’s website.

Telegram channel “Attention, news” writing that in Rostov the universities cancel the events. According to the publication, students of Rostov State Medical University have been informed that their exams have been canceled.

So far there has been no official information about what exactly is happening in Rostov-on-Don. On the night of June 24, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the private military company Wagner, recorded an audio message in which he said that the PMC he led would “enter Rostov”. The leader of the “Wagnerians” threatened that his fighters “destroy everything that gets in the way”.
