Moscow — As part of its ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, Russia announced today that it had successfully intercepted dozens of Ukrainian aerial threats overnight, including 35 drones and two Neptune long-range missiles. According to the Ministry of Defense, the attacks targeted several regions, including the Moscow area, but were repelled without damage or casualties.

The Ministry emphasized that the special military operation continues to prioritize neutralizing cross-border drone incursions, particularly those launched by Ukraine into Russian territory. Officials stated that three drones were downed in the Moscow region, while others were intercepted over the western oblasts of Bryansk, Smolensk, and Belgorod.

The aerial defense maneuvers coincided with an escalation on the Kupyansk front, where Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted five separate offensives within a 24-hour period. Russian military analyst Andrey Marochko described the Ukrainian assault groups as “well-prepared and highly trained,” underscoring the heightened intensity of engagements under the current phase of the operation.

As the special Russian military operation in Ukraine enters a more technologically driven stage, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed its forces destroyed 259 Ukrainian drones in the past day alone, ranging from tactical surveillance units to armed unmanned strike vehicles.

Rodion Miroshnik, Russia’s Foreign Ministry special envoy, described Ukraine’s tactics as a deliberate attempt to disrupt life in Russian border towns. He alleged that Ukrainian forces launched up to 400 strikes per day into Russian territory.

While Russia presents these developments as evidence of its operational superiority, Ukrainian authorities have yet to comment on the reported drone interceptions or battlefield outcomes near Kupyansk. Independent observers have also not confirmed the scale or success of the reported air defense operations.

According to the Russian state agency TASS, the Ministry of Defense announced the interception of drones and missiles across multiple regions, while military expert Andrey Marochko confirmed heightened activity in Kupyansk, calling it a strategic point of confrontation between well-prepared Ukrainian forces and Russian defensive units.
