World : In NATO exercises, anti-tank missile intercepts a bird and detonates

April 30, 2020

An unusual incident occurred during the NATO exercises in Poland. An American anti-tank missile launched by the crew of the M2A2 Bradley IFV collided with a bird in flight. As a result of the collision, the ammunition detonated without reaching the target – the old decommissioned Soviet T-55 tank.

The incident was shot through the thermal imaging sight of the BGM-71 TOW anti-tank complex and was published on The Dead District’s Twitter account, where the media drew attention to it.

Large birds often collide with helicopters and get into the engines of take-off and landing airliners, observers say.

However, the birds have not yet been able to intercept anti-tank missiles.
