The United States has imposed sanctions on 48 Russian governors, including the head of the Omsk region, Alexander Burkov, according to the State Department.
To justify its decision, Washington indicated the participation of politicians in the partial mobilization in the subjects of the Russian Federation. Previously, Burkov had already fallen under sanctions from Britain, as well as Ukraine for approving the annexation of Crimea to Russia. The governor has yet to comment on the new restrictions.
The State Department’s “blacklist” also included nine Russian ministers, foreign citizens and companies suspected of helping circumvent sanctions, and 11 Russian banks.
The United States has also imposed restrictive measures against the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is under the control of the Russian military. And also against Chinese companies that take measures to circumvent sanctions.
