Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

U.S. Attorney General Will Not Object to Designating Wagner as a Terrorist Organization

US Attorney General Merrick Garland said he would not oppose the designation of Russian mercenary Wagner Group as a foreign terrorist organization and called its founder, Yevgeny Prigozhin, a war criminal.
During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a staunch supporter of Ukraine, asked Garland if he was okay with the Wagner Group being designated as a foreign terrorist organization under US law.
“I think this is an organization that commits war crimes that harms the United States,” Garland said, noting that such a decision falls within the purview of the State Department.
Asked by Graham if he would object to the group’s designation as a foreign terrorist organization, Garland said, “I won’t mind, but ultimately I will rely on the State Department.”
