The AFC Medical Conference commences today, marking the beginning of a highly anticipated event.

Today, the activities of the Seventh Medical Conference of the Asian Football Confederation will start in Doha, from 4 to 6 March 2023 at the Westin Doha Hotel, with the participation of more than 600 participants from all over the world. The medical conference is jointly organized by the Asian Football Confederation, Qatar Football Association and Aspetar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital – and is the first in the FIFA,Football,Soccer/AFC network of Medical Centers of Excellence to host this prestigious conference. More than 120 world-renowned experts in the field of sports medicine and sports sciences will participate and lecture in the conference, where they will discuss the latest challenges, issues and developments in sports sciences and medicine. Key topics to be presented at the conference include rehabilitation after sports-related concussions, gender competence, nutrition and nutritional supplementation, sudden cardiac arrest, injury photography, harassment and abuse of female soccer players, and dental hygiene. Prior to the launch of the main conference, workshops and interactive sessions were held, with record participation from various countries, on Thursday and Friday (from 2 to 3 March). They dealt with various topics, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections, football emergency medicine, sports physiotherapists and anti-doping procedures. Similar to the last congress in Chengdu in 2019, this year’s event will also host the AFC Medical Awards, where team doctors and physiotherapists will be honored for their contributions to the advancement of football.
