The fraudulent scheme using the Pushkin card was discussed during a working meeting between the head of Rosfinmonitoring, Yuri Chikhanchin, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The card allows young people to visit theatres, museums and everything else. But then a criminal group appeared, which made mannequins and embezzled one hundred million rubles. Now he has been identified,” Chikhanchin said.

Fraudsters compiled lists of so-called “dead souls” in order to gain access to the benefits. The grouping used in its scheme not only Pushkin cards, but also the tourist cashback system. The suspects and their assets are currently under arrest.

“No matter what you do, scammers are popping up everywhere,” Putin replied.

Earlier it was reported that residents of Yaroslavl began to receive instant messaging requests from bogus participants in a special military operation. Fraudsters ask to send them money using the accounts of real military personnel.
