Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council: The decision of the Criminal Court to prosecute Putin will have serious consequences for international law

Dmitry Medvedev, Vice President of the Russian Security Council, said that the decision of the International Criminal Court to prosecute Russian President Vladimir Putin will have serious consequences for international law.

Medvedev added, in a statement published by Sputnik today: "This is the breakdown of the foundations and principles of law. No one will go to any international bodies anymore, everyone will negotiate among themselves… All UN structures will explode to their foundations. The decline of the entire system of international relations is coming, trust has been lost".

The International Criminal Court had issued an arrest warrant against the Russian President as well as the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova Belova, on the grounds "illegal deportation" Alleged Ukrainian children to Russia.

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Russia does not recognize the decision of the International Criminal Court in cases of war crimes allegedly committed by the Russian military in Ukraine".
