The Rapid Support Forces announced, in a new statement published on its official account on Twitter, that the Egyptian soldiers who were at Meroe airport during the clashes with the army forces last Saturday were transferred to the capital, Khartoum.
The Rapid Support Forces said: "We assure the families and government of Egypt that the soldiers who were present at the Marawi military base are all well and receiving the necessary care, and they will be handed over when the appropriate opportunity arises, according to the conditions the country is going through.".
Ahmed Abdeen, advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, had apologized, in statements to "Al Jazeera" – about what "individual behaviour" Badr towards a number of Egyptian soldiers who were detained at the Marawi military base in Sudan.
Abdeen said: "The Egyptian soldiers are safe and in excellent condition, and we will hand them over when the situation calms down".
