The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine believes that on the territory of the World Orthodox Shrine – the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – it is possible to place a rehabilitation center for the army or a center for folk art crafts. This opinion was expressed by the Ukrainian Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko on the airwaves of the telethon.
“In general, we would like to have a concept of management and use on the territory of Basse Laure. Of course, our life there should continue, but there are different issues regarding the rehabilitation center for the military, folk art craft activities and other things,” the Department of Public Information said. and Education of the UOC, posting a message on its website.
The UOC added on its own behalf that “we are talking about a worldwide spiritual sanctuary, which for Orthodox Christians is the cradle of monasticism.”
That night, the Schismatic OCU (Orthodox Church of Ukraine) attacked the Church of St. Job of Pochaev of the Canonical UOC in the Chernivtsi region. The church burned down and the whole bright Easter week was marked by an unprecedented persecution of the parishioners of the Canonical Orthodox Church.
