Paris. 116 boats have been selected for the unprecedented opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 to be held on the Seine River on July 26 next year.
Organizers announced on Monday that 98 percent of the boats would be available in Paris, while the other two percent would be sourced from the French city of Strasbourg. These boats will cover a distance of six kilometers from Pont d’Austerlitz to Pont d’Inna with the athletes. Major tourist attractions of Paris such as Notre Dam and the Eiffel Tower will also be seen on this cruise route.
On 26 July 2024, more than a billion viewers will tune in to Paris and the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, said Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024. We are very pleased to be counting on them to make this unprecedented, exciting and possibly the biggest Olympic event in history possible. Organizers have revealed their ambition to hold the opening ceremony on the River Seine in December 2021, with at least six million spectators expected to attend.
For the first time in the summer edition of the Olympic Games, the Opening Ceremony will be held in the heart of the city instead of in a stadium. An estimated one million tickets will be sold for the opening ceremony, ranging from 90 euros to 2,700 euros. Paris has hosted the world’s biggest sporting event twice before, in 1900 and 1924. It will be the second city after London to stage the Olympics for the third time. Athletes from around the world will gather in the French capital from July 26 to August 11 next year for the event.
