The White House confirms the killing of a second American in Sudan since the outbreak of confrontations

Today, Wednesday, the White House announced the death of a second American citizen in Sudan, stressing the continuation of communication with the military leaders in Sudan to extend the armistice and stop the fighting that has been going on for more than 10 days.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, said, that a second American citizen was killed in Sudan, amid continued fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. The spokesman did not address the character or action of the American citizen who died, contenting himself with announcing his death.

Kirby also indicated that Washington is working to help the Americans to leave Sudan, through Port Sudan, located on the Red Sea coast in the east of the country. The United States continues to work with military leaders in Sudan to extend the current truce, which was achieved under American auspices. Kirby said: “We have open channels of communication with both sides of the conflict, and we will use them to urge them to stop fighting”The US official also urged the parties to begin the process of transitioning to a civilian government

And at the end of last week, the US State Department announced the death of an American citizen in Sudan as a result of the ongoing confrontations, without specifying his description and identity.
