A senior diplomat from the US Embassy has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry due to the disruption of visa processing for media representatives from the journalistic pool of the head of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. It has been the subject of an official procedure.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that such sabotage, aimed at preventing normal journalistic work, will not go unanswered.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the United States had perpetrated “genocide” against Russian journalists working in the country. According to her, the American authorities indulge in “imaginary hospitality” vis-à-vis the correspondents of the Russian media.
She previously accused White House spokesman John Kirby of lying about not issuing US visas to Russian journalists who traveled with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to a UN Security Council (SC) meeting.
