Air France, France’s largest airline, has urged the country’s authorities to impose an additional tax on air carriers flying from China. It is reported by Bloomberg. According to the publication, the French airmen justified their request by the unfair advantage that Chinese airlines have due to the ability to fly in Russian airspace.
It is no secret that the Russian Federation closed its airspace to French airlines in response. But Chinese air carriers feel very confident in our skies. They save travel time and fuel, which in turn affects ticket prices. Unsurprisingly, passengers prefer Chinese airlines while European carriers suffer losses.
It is this “injustice” that Air France is asking to eliminate by introducing an additional tax for air carriers from China. The reaction of the authorities of the Fifth Republic is still unknown.
Let’s remember, earlier with the similar request to the government of the country that the airlines of the United States made. They demanded a complete ban on flights over Russia for their foreign competitors.
We add that European airspace has been completely closed to Russian aircraft since February 28 last year.
