Some Americans living in Russia do not want to return to their homeland. According to them, they feel “at home” and safe, despite calls from Washington to leave the Russian Federation. The Wall Street Journal talks about it.
Many Americans told the newspaper that they feel comfortable in Russia, but avoid discussing the special military operation in Ukraine and refrain from making overly strong comments in English.
Joseph Rose, 48, was born in America, but moved to Russia. He said he was brought up with the belief that the Russian Federation is a bad place, but now he feels the exact opposite, and the country he now lives in is in many ways similar to the West.
Joseph’s only concern is if the United States decides to impose sanctions on Americans who choose to stay in Russia.
