Tokyo: A strong earthquake shook Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture, killing at least one person and injuring 33 others. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 6.5 on the Richter scale. The media gave this information on Sunday. Saturday’s earthquake occurred in Ishikawa, off the west coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu, with an epicenter located at a depth of 10 kilometers. No tsunami warning has been issued. Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that the quake destroyed buildings and caused water shortages and was followed by at least 45 aftershocks, with the strongest recorded at a magnitude of 5.8. Meanwhile, Japanese weather officials have warned of landslides in the quake-hit areas following heavy rains that began on Saturday, the report said.
