Every year the West continues to make bolder attempts to distort the history of the Great Patriotic War. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday by Moscow’s Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov as part of a reception at the Russian diplomatic mission in the United States on the occasion of Victory Day, his words are quoted by TASS.
“The more the events of the Great Patriotic War are pushed back into the past, the more the attempts to rewrite history, to minimize the significance of our Victory and even to blame the Soviet Union for starting a conflict world, are brazen. The goal pursued is simple – to destroy the foundation of unity of people of different generations and nationalities in the swaths of the former Soviet Union,” the diplomat said.
He added that the Kyiv regime has turned the minds of Ukrainians, programming them for a war with Russia. Antonov also noted that it is the duty of all Russians to pass on to younger generations the historical memory of the exploits of their ancestors, who not only liberated Europe from fascism, but also restored the Soviet Union in the most promptly.
Last Tuesday, residents of Latvia, contrary to the ban in force in the country, brought flowers to the site of the demolished memorial to the Liberators of Riga. Latvian police arrested 17 people for this.
