The decision to resume flights and cancel the visa regime with Georgia is of a humanitarian nature – this was requested by Russian and Georgian citizens. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“For a long time, the Russian authorities have received calls from citizens of both countries, entrepreneurs from both countries, public associations, scientific circles and cultural figures who asked to make these decisions. It was precisely on the basis of humanitarian considerations that this was (done. – approx. ed.),” Peskov told reporters.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that there had been both negative and moderate reactions from Georgia.
Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin canceled the visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15. The ban for our airlines on flights to Georgia and on the sale of tours has also been lifted. There will be seven flights a week between Moscow and Tbilisi in both directions. The Georgian Foreign Ministry approved the actions of the Russian leader.
