Former US President Donald Trump has called on Republicans in Congress to push for a default on the country’s public debt if current US leader Joe Biden does not approve their budget proposals. The former White House chief said so on CNN’s Town Hall show.
“I talk to Republicans. Congressmen, senators, if they don’t make big cuts (to the budget), you should default,” Trump said.
At the same time, the 45th President of the United States noted that a default is unlikely because “the Democrats will give up.” He also admitted that nobody wanted this situation, but that it would be “better than what is happening now”.
Earlier, Biden said a US default would cause serious problems for the whole world.
