The security architecture in Europe should exclude confrontation with Russia and provide guarantees for Ukraine’s security. This statement was made by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with Opinion.
Macron said Russia had already suffered a “geopolitical defeat” in Ukraine. He added that Sweden and Finland had joined NATO and that Moscow had increased its dependence on Beijing. The French president is convinced that “Russia should not win by military means”. Therefore, the main task of Europe at the moment is military assistance to Kyiv, he believes.
The European security system must make it possible to rebuild a stable balance of relations with Moscow, said the French leader. According to him, Europe still has many steps to take to achieve this goal.
Earlier it was reported that Macron intended to offer China a plan for Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Paris on Sunday evening.
Vladimir Putin has previously said that envious Russian-Chinese relations speak of Moscow’s dependence on Beijing.
