Russia mocks ‘Summit of Seven’: A politicized event that incubates hysteria

October 2, 2025

The Russian criticism came after leaders of the world’s wealthiest democracies said they “will not back down to support Ukraine”, in a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said his country had taken the control of the eastern city of Bakhmut. , which Kyiv denied.

The ministry said in a statement, posted on Telegram, that the G7 had “decline to an irreversible level” and that the summit had become “an incubator for destructive initiatives undermining global stability under the leadership of the Anglo-Saxons”.

The statement also accused the G7 of “stirring up anti-Russian and anti-Chinese hysteria”, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was one of the guests at the Hiroshima summit, an opportunity he took to urge member states to continue supplying his country with weapons and diplomatic support to Kiev amid its war with Russia.

The summit gave Zelenskyy the opportunity to win support from other leaders, such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lullada Silva.

In the statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the G7 of “flirting” with non-Western countries in an attempt to thwart the development of its relations with Moscow and Beijing.

She, however, said she believed the summit “failed to express the interests of the Asia-Pacific region, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.” .
