Podolyak set conditions in Moscow for peace talks

– Published on:

Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, outlined the terms under which Kyiv would agree to peace talks with Moscow. The official posted the list of demands on his Twitter.

First of all, Podolyak announced the need for the withdrawal of Russian troops. After that, he set conditions such as “recognition of the sovereignty of post-Soviet countries”, “extradition of war criminals” and the creation of a “buffer zone” on the territory of Russia.

In addition, Kyiv insists on the reduction of Russian long-range missiles and pleads for negotiations to control the Russian nuclear arsenal.

Among the conditions affecting the economic sphere, Podolyak named the legislative consolidation of reparations from Russia and the rejection of frozen assets abroad in favor of Ukraine.

In January this year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called such “peace initiatives” absurd.
