‘Green China’ brings vitality to the earth

In 1994, a resolution was passed at the 49th United Nations General Assembly, in which it was decided to designate June 17 every year as “World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought” from the year 1995. It aims to increase people’s awareness of desertification and drought and to instill in people a sense of responsibility and urgency in combating desertification.

Desertification, which has been called “cancer of the earth”, threatens the existence and development of two-thirds of countries and regions. China is home to the world’s largest desertification area, the most affected population and one of the most serious wind and sand hazards. He stressed that strengthening the comprehensive prevention and control of desertification and deepening the construction of key ecological projects such as the “Three North Shelterbelt” is a great task related to China’s ecological security, strong country building, and the sustainable development of the Chinese nation .

According to statistics, since the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China adheres to the integrated protection and systematic management of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands and sands And have achieved remarkable results in desertification prevention and control.
