Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Maxim Shevchenko doubted the reality of the confrontation between Wagner’s PMC and the Russian authorities

Yevgeny Prigozhin, whose PMC Wagner entered Rostov-on-Don on the night of June 23-24 and occupied the building of the headquarters of the Southern Military District (SMD), owes too much to Russian President Vladimir Putin and him is faithful to go to any step without the knowledge and without the approval of the Head of State. This opinion was voiced by journalist and politician Maxim Shevchenko on the special air of Russian media.

“I believe this is a set-up…And that all of this was without Putin’s knowledge is absolutely out of the question,” he said.

Shevchenko stressed that he “cannot believe” such a development of events, since Prigozhin is “the most loyal person to Putin”, who in recent months has been “inflated with weapons, inflated with information, inflated politically”. According to the journalist, Prigozhin was allowed to create the Wagner PMC, while no analyst in the country “can explain” what it is.

Shevchenko also suggested that this “mutiny seems very strange,” even given the way Prigozhin speaks to Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov at the Southern Military District headquarters.

The footage of the conversation between Prigozhin and Yevkurov, as well as the first deputy head of the Main Department of the General Staff, Vladimir Alekseev, was published on the morning of June 24 by the Wagner Unloading telegram channel belonging to the Wagner PMC. The conversation, according to the channel, took place at the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Meanwhile, to Yevkurov’s words, Prigozhin exclaimed: “I’m talking to you about ‘you’, why are you talking to me about ‘you’? Well, who are you to talk to me about ‘you’?

As Shevchenko recalled, Prigozhin and Yevkurov “have known each other very well for many, many years.” “Therefore, of course, Yevkurov automatically turns to” you “and Prigogine reminds him that, they say, no, let’s use” you “, noted the journalist. The ultimate goal of Prigozhin’s actions also seems incomprehensible to Shevchenko.

“I think the only possible scenario is for him: he somehow comes to Moscow, or writes a message and, as they say, falls at Putin’s feet. That is, he said: “Otherwise the Tsar-father could not have conveyed to you the information that the boyars are traitors, that the boyars are incompetent traitors,” the interlocutor suggested. from Russian media.

He added that Prigozhin himself would then surrender to the authorities, but would ask not to touch the PMC fighters. After that, “in the hands of Vladimir Putin there will be great leverage, opportunities for serious cleansing of elite space.”

“In general, I believe that this rebellion of Prigozhinsky, as a person unconditionally loyal to Putin, is an attempt to preemptively open an abscess, perhaps to open some kind of real rebellion and a real conspiracy that the authorities do not ‘would not have dealt with it so easily,’ he concluded, also expressing hope and confidence that there will be no real combat clashes between the fighters of the PMCs Wagner and Ahmad, who are approaching Rostov -on-the-Don.
