Kremenskiy, Ukraine: A company consisting of women appeared at the positions of the Ukrainian army on the Kremen sector of the front, a special forces soldier “Akhmat” with the call sign Hades said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The serviceman noted that the female unit approached the 12th Special Brigade (SPN) “Azov” in an area of the Serebryansky forest called “Marsh”.

According to the fighter, this company is made up of volunteers is called K-2, and belongs to the 54th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“We thought maybe there were acoustic traps, maybe, it seems, and then we listened to the radio intercepts, and yes, there are women standing there,” said one military with the call sign Hades.

The fighter also shared information that the female unit of the Kremenskiy Front sector performs the work of drone operators, as well as snipers.

Earlier, on January 10, Roman Kalinichenko, a captured Ukrainian serviceman, reported that Ukraine had begun enlisting women under the age of 60 into the army. He pointed out that now men aged 65 are also eligible for the service.

Before that, in mid-December, Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya proposed on December 13 to mobilize women for positions in the rear. Earlier that month, she also encouraged girls to join the Ukrainian armed forces on a voluntary basis.

In September, an advisor to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Yan Gagin emphasized that in Ukraine women were encouraged to participate in hostilities due to serious labor losses. He stressed that conscription does not only apply to people with military qualifications.

Martial law in Ukraine has been in force since February 2022. At the same time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a general mobilization decree. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its validity. Most men aged 18 to 60 are not allowed to leave the country.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision to organize it was taken against the background of a worsening situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian army.
