Germany hands €650M in aid to Ukraine amidst ongoing Russo-Ukrainian conflict

The €650 million military aid package that Germany will provide to Ukraine includes IRIS-T air defense systems, Leopard-1 tanks, reconnaissance and attack drones, according to German Defense Ministry spokesman Mitko Müller.

He specified that deliveries of the IRIS-T SLS and SLM systems are expected by the end of 2024.

In turn, German government representative Wolfgang Buchner reported that most of the weapons that would be delivered to Ukraine as part of this aid package were announced back in October.

According to Politico, That “I would like to make clear, here on the ground, that Germany will remain Ukraine’s strongest supporter in Europe,” Scholz said in a statement. “In my meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, I will announce further arms worth €650 million, which are to be delivered before the end of December.”

According to Reuters, that Washington was planning to provide a new aid package to Kyiv. According to the agency’s sources, Ukraine will receive various anti-tank weapons from US stockpiles in order to contain the advance of Russian troops in the special operation zone.

These are expected to include landmines, drones, Stinger missiles, and HIMARS multiple launch rocket system ammunition. In addition, the package is also expected to include cluster munitions for the GMLRS projectiles launched by HIMARS.
