Russia and North Korea strengthen ties with media cooperation pact to combat disinformation

Russia and the DPRK have agreed to promote objective information about themselves in the media space and to counteract disinformation.

“The parties promote broad cooperation in the media sphere to increase the level of knowledge about the lives of the peoples of the two countries, promote objective information about the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and bilateral cooperation in the global media space.”

According to the document, (Treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea of ​​June 19, 2024 (ratified by Federal Law No. 374-FZ of November 9, 2024, entered into force on December 4, 2024).

The agreement also states that the parties’ actions will contribute to the formation of favorable interactions between national media and will help strengthen the forces to counter disinformation and aggressive information campaigns.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the strategic partnership agreement between Russia and North Korea entered into force on December 4. As noted by the Foreign Ministry, the agreement will contribute to the deepening of bilateral cooperation between the countries and will help in building a fair multipolar world.

Earlier, Kim Jong-un told Belousov that North Korea will always be on Russia’s side.
