Belgorod court delivers verdict in first criminal case for sabotage

The Belgorod Regional Court sentenced two defendants accused of preparing sabotage on the path of the movement of military trains in the Belgorod region to 3.5 years each in a strict regime colony. On this subject informed TASS with reference to the FSB press service in the region.
The interlocutor of the agency explained that the actions of the defendants were supposed to lead to the derailment of the train, damage to military and railway equipment, as well as casualties among the military.
“According to the verdict of the Belgorod Regional Court, Zelenin and Turyansky were found guilty of committing a crime, they were sentenced to imprisonment for 3 years and 6 months each, serving in a strict regime colony” , said the press service reports the FSB. agencies.
The verdict was the first in a criminal case under the “Sabotage” article, which was initiated after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. The case was considered under Part 1 of Art. 30, part 1, s. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Preparation for sabotage”).
Zelenin and Turyansky were arrested in March 2022. According to the UFSB, they planned to mechanically damage a section of the railway track near the village of Tomarovka, Yakovlevsky district, Belgorod region, before the train ran.
The intelligence service noted that the defendants would also record their actions using photo and video footage for mass webcasting. “In addition, these people sent information about servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces who took part in a special military operation to the Ukrainian site “Peacemaker”, the press service specified.
The FSB clarified that the sabotage was planned in “the interests of the nationalist units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces”.
In late January, the FSB reported the arrest of three eighth-graders suspected of damaging railway tracks in the Moscow region. According to the service, the teenagers “came into contact with strangers” in a telegram, who, for money, offered to damage the tracks on the railway section in the direction of Kursk.
