Islamabad: Pakistan’s Awami National Party (ANP) has launched an investigation against PTI chief Imran Khan and former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hamid for helping resettle terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court for the formation of a judicial commission for According to the information, the petition has also sought immediate and concrete steps to restore peace in the province and the rest of the country. Apart from this, it has also sought the intervention of the court to prevent further rehabilitation of terrorists, to stop the spread of extremism in other areas.
As per reports, the petition was filed by the ANP’s provincial chief Aimal Wali Khan. Besides Khan and Lt Gen (retd) Faiz, the petition also named President Arif Alvi, former KP chief minister Mahmood Khan and former KP government spokesperson Barrister Saif as respondents. The federal and provincial governments have also been made parties to the petition. The petitioner claimed that with the alleged help of Hamid, Khan allowed terrorists to settle in the country after the end of militancy.
He said that the former prime minister had admitted to the media several times that he had facilitated rehabilitation. The petition sought a judicial inquiry by the chief justice of the PHC to find out who helped the Taliban resettle in the province over the years. It also said that peace was restored after the efforts and sacrifices of the ANP government along with the great sacrifices of the police and other security forces.
