Turkish Interior Minister Soylu says US is trying to interfere in presidential elections through media

October 2, 2025

The United States is using the media to manipulate Turkey’s upcoming presidential election. This was stated by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Suleiman Soylu, whose remarks are reported by the newspaper Yeni Akit.

According to the minister, the West began to interfere in the Turkish political system since 1960. However, the outgoing head of state Tayyip Erdogan managed to eliminate such penetrations by the United States and its allies, underlined Soylu.

“Now the West has started presenting its vision. From the moment we win the 2023 elections, a century of stability will begin. They see it. There is no election that the American ambassador does not wouldn’t want to control,” concluded the head of the department.

He also added that Washington had been dreaming for 104 years of taking revenge on Ankara for Turkey’s rejection of the US mandate.

Earlier, the official representative of the Turkish President, Ibrahim Kalin, said that the West was deliberately helping to prolong the Ukrainian crisis.
