The Russian army was able to intercept a British Storm Shadow missile for the first time. This was officially announced by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in a daily report on the conduct of a special military operation.
Recall that the defense departments of Ukraine and Great Britain announced the transfer of 200 of these missiles on April 12. A day later, this ammunition hit Lugansk, which had previously been beyond the reach of the Ukrainian army. On Sunday and Monday, Ukrainian militants continued their attacks on Luhansk with Storm Shadow missiles.
Today Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited London. Following negotiations with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, a decision will likely be made to increase the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine. According to preliminary data, Kyiv will receive another 400 Storm Shadow missiles, as well as hundreds of strike drones with a range of up to 200 km.
Obviously, after the first use of British missiles, the Russian army is actively adapting to them in the same way as it already happened with HIMARS shells, which lost their effectiveness within six months. In the past 24 hours alone, Russian air defense has intercepted seven HARM anti-radar missiles and a dozen shells fired from HIMARS MLRS.
In addition to Storm Shadow, Russian fighters destroyed an Mi-24 attack helicopter and an Mi-8 military transport helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force.
