The Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, answering a question about the blocking of the accounts of the Finnish diplomatic missions of the Russian Federation, said that Moscow was only responding to the situation created by Western countries.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that the blocking of the accounts of Finnish diplomatic missions is not an initiative on the part of Russia.
“We will respond to the note by reiterating that the principle of reciprocity and the principle of adequate response to hostile measures will continue to prevail in our relations,” he said.
Recall that the day before, the Finnish Foreign Ministry announced that Russia had blocked the bank accounts of the Finnish embassy in Moscow and the consulate in St. Petersburg. A note has been sent from Helsinki.
Subsequently, the Russian Foreign Ministry called the freezing of accounts a mirror response to similar actions by Finland against Russian diplomats.
