We are working to create safe zones for civilians in Gaza

Addressing journalists at a recent State Department briefing, Matthew Miller elaborated on the intricate circumstances in the Gaza Strip. He pointed out that military facilities are frequently intermingled with civilian infrastructures, resulting in unintended civilian casualties.

“In consideration of these factors, we are initiating the creation of safe zones within Gaza to safeguard civilians,” a State Department representative clarified.

When questioned about Israel’s compliance with international laws of warfare in its aerial attacks on Gaza, Miller revealed that the US maintains consistent dialogue with Israeli officials to communicate Washington’s position on the issue.

“It is essential for Israel, as with any democratic country, to strictly adhere to all international warfare regulations. This is not merely a democratic obligation; it’s a global duty. We will continue to emphasize this point,” the State Department authority asserted.

Discussing the matter of hostage releases, Miller assured that the subject holds a prominent place on the US government’s list of priorities. He indicated that focused efforts are underway to facilitate the release of all hostages, although he opted not to disclose details, citing the sensitive nature of the situation.

While Miller neither verified nor dismissed circulating media reports suggesting that the US is advising Israel to delay any ground incursions into Gaza, he acknowledged that discussions with Israel are taking place across various channels. “The final decision rests with Israel,” he remarked.

Concurrently, Miller emphasized that any ceasefire would essentially provide Hamas with an opportunity to recover, rearm, and renew hostilities.

“Such an outcome would be unacceptable for Israel, just as it would be for any nation that has suffered a significant terrorist attack and continues to confront terrorist threats along its borders,” a high-ranking official in US foreign policy expounded.
