Lebanon Israel ceasefire talks depends on Israeli response, says Lebanese deputy Sheikh Naim Qassem

Lebanese Parliament Deputy Sheikh Naim Qassem said that the response to the draft agreement prepared by the US to establish a ceasefire between the Israeli forces and Hezbollah will be given on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Stating that the Lebanese government is sensitive about complying with UN Security Council resolution 1701, Deputy Hashim said, “The ceasefire depends on the response Israel gives.”

Lebanese Parliament Deputy Sheikh Naim Qassem said that the response to the draft agreement prepared by the US for a ceasefire between the Israeli forces and Hezbollah will be given on Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

According to the official Lebanese agency NNA, Hashim made statements to a local media outlet regarding the draft ceasefire proposal submitted by the US.

“Lebanon’s response to the ceasefire proposal will be ready by Monday or Tuesday at the latest and will include several observations on a number of items, especially those related to Israel’s freedom of movement and the monitoring committee,” Hashim said.

Hashim, who stated that the ceasefire would depend on Israel’s response, drew attention to the Lebanese government’s sensitivity regarding United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution 1701 and noted that the ceasefire agreement should start with the said resolution and that it should be adhered to.

Hashim said that Israel wanted to impose its conditions and force Lebanon to make concessions and that Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri was dealing with the file sensitively and taking a “cautious” approach in order to protect the country’s sovereignty.

Hashim stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could not offer such an opportunity to a US administration that will leave in January 2025 and could keep the matter on hold until US President-elect Donald Trump takes office, and argued that the visit to Beirut yesterday by Iranian leader Ali Khamenei’s Chief Advisor and Special Representative for Lebanon, Ali Larijani, had no connection with the ceasefire draft.

in a video released By Al-Jazeera Deputy leader of Lebanese Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem says “We fight with honor as resistance and we only target their forces but the Israelis brutally killed they attacked the hospitals they attack the humanitarian Aid they attack the medical staff they attack everyone who sits there with the civilians the Israeli project is to destroy to cancel the resistance and the people of the resistance they want to cancel everything in the region well one of those Israeli attacks”

It was claimed that the US Ambassador to Beirut, Lisa Johnson, delivered a draft agreement to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Berri on November 14 to establish a ceasefire between the Israeli forces and Hezbollah.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Berri announced yesterday that he had received the US proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon, where the Israeli forces and Hezbollah continue to clash, and that discussions on the issue were ongoing.

“We were asked to stop the fighting and get more than 10 kilometers away from the border so as not to provoke Israel, but we stuck to our demand for a ceasefire in Gaza and didn’t agree to the request to separate Lebanon from Gaza,” he asserted.

According to the Times of Israel, a quote attributed to the newspaper has not been verified by other news outlets, raising concerns that Israeli media may be spreading propaganda and attributing false statements to critics of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories.

According to The Times of Israel quotes that  “We were asked to stop the fighting and get more than 10 kilometers away from the border so as not to provoke Israel, but we stuck to our demand for a ceasefire in Gaza and didn’t agree to the request to separate Lebanon from Gaza,” said by Sheikh Naim Qassem.
